Description
Toby is a retired racing Greyhound who still loves to run and play in the backyard, or even better, at the dog park. If there's a bunch of dogs running at the park, you can be sure Toby's out front, showing them how it's done! Toby is wonderful on a leash, great in the car, and is a gentleman when meeting new people. He gets along fine with kitties, loves to meet new dogs, but would do best in a home as an only dog, or only with females. A home with children under 16 is not appropriate. Toby is crate trained, though he's perfectly trustworthy alone in the house. Effective April 1, 2009 adoption fees will be $300.00. We must do this to offset the enormous vet bills that we are incurring for the dogs that we are taking in and the increase in normal veterinary fees. As a retired racing Greyhound, much of Toby's former racing glory is available online at The Greyhound Breeding and Racing Database along with his pedigree and other interesting racing Greyhound information. Because Toby is a retired racing Greyhound, special consideration will be taken when placing him. Only experienced dog homes will be considered, preferably with Greyhound and/or sighthound experience. **Please note that Homeward Bound is working in conjunction with Toby's original adoption group, Homes4Hounds, in this placement.** Dogs and puppies adopted from Homeward Bound come from home environments, as we utilize foster homes rather than operating a shelter. The animals are always vet checked, dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated, and all are spayed or neutered.
